All 2009 Road bikes are 30-50% off We also have all of the 2010 LOOK and Kuota Tri bikes in stock ready to go! MEMBER SPOTLIGHT – Jolene DeWaal
Birthplace: Murray, UT Current Hometown: Sandy, UT Forum Name: Jolene DeWaal How Long Have You Been a Shark? 3 to 4 years First Ever Triathlon (Race, Year): Cedar City Triathlon, 1995. Pool swim @ Middle school, cycle to Canaraville & dirt trail run back towards town. Entire swim was on my back – last one out of the pool but managed to catch up on the bike & pull ahead on the run to win the event. What Got You Into Triathlon: Mandatory x-training following lower back injury – before that I mostly ran & competed in distance runs/marathons Most Memorable Triathlon Race Experience: Ogden Valley Triathlon – 2005 1st tri with an open water swim with wind & white caps! (how do you spell “Open water anxiety”?) so I survived & my race really began with the bike… Favorite Workout(s): Cycle around Bear Lake or bike from Sandy to Steiner – swim a mile & bike the return. I also like the climb to Brighton following a pool swim. Trail runs with a lot of variety. Biggest Tri Achievement to Date: Bear Lake Classic Aug. 2009 – Olympic Distance PR of 2:29 – finishing 1st in age group & 5th overall women Biggest Race Pet Peeve: Hitting masses on the bike as the Olympic triathletes come back & merge with the Sprint distance – aaaahhh! Future Triathlon Aspirations: Lower all 3 split times – especially improve my swim, Become a stronger cyclist & continue to place top in age group (45-49). Also to promote the sport to others and be an advocate for health and fitness wherever I go! Anything Else Do You Care To Share? For me personally, it’s not about where I place in these events as much as the thrill of challenging myself to improve and meeting some incredible people along the way. As anyone seriously involved in triathlons will admit, it is a lifestyle & a challenge to balance all aspects of life along with it. I embrace this challenge & have even learned to love it!
